Hey Phil And Jeannine. As you you know we just got back from our three day canoe adventure. For our first over night trip this was fantastic. The scenery was amazing. The fishing was the best we`ve every had. So much so that we broke our net. we will be looking to make this a yearly trip. We would recommend this trip to anyone with any level of experience (beginner to expert) just remember to start early, paddle hard and stay to the left.
Thanks again for everything Yvonne and Pete

Hello Joy
I have many memories of the ice house and the ice stored in layers of sawdust. Grandma’s pies were wonderful. I’ll never forget her rolling out the pie dough by the window and looking up to fine a bear looking in!
The beach now is a little nicer on the feet than it was then. Hope you get to enjoy the camp as it is now, they have kept it beautifully. Thanks for the wonderful memories!

This must be the place my family visited a couple of years when I was a young child. I have such fond memories of taking the boat ride over the lake to our cabin, fishing for hours, playing for hours in the sand on the beach. Back then, there was an ice house which stored chunks of ice for our icebox to keep our food cold. Most important, I remember the wonderful baked goods from the main cabin, cookies and bread and pies for the ordering! My family has spoken of this place whimsically for over 40 years now and have always considered it a most favorite vacation. Another thing, here also used to be a rock that was as shiny as a mirror in the lake – they called the stone mica, which fascinated me. Such wonderful memories….

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you for looking after my Grandparent’s ‘camp’ so wonderfully. It looks beautiful.

We had a fantastic week at Northern Lights. Both Phil and Jeannine were hugely helpful and great with the kids. Great too at keeping the few big kids there (Hosers, I think you call them!) firmly in order. The resort itself is staggeringly beautiful; I can’t think of anywhere else in the world where you could enjoy such beauty and isolation without risking being eaten by some animal or other!, The cabins were ideal too and the beds very comfortble.

Louise and I have been home for just a week, but I have already been to your website three times. As usual, we had a wonderful two weeks, and hated leaving the fishing, the sounds of laughter, and the warmth of being with good friends, both old and new. Northern Lights allows for as much peacefulness and solitude as you would like, while offering a family atmosphere where all are welcome. Phil and Jeannine make everyone feel at home, and you easily become a part of the family. After all these decades, I realized I never signed the “Guest Book”. Upon reflection, I guess it’s because I was never made to feel like just a guest!

Our family just returned from a relaxing and enjoyable one week stay at this resort. It was our first time here and definitely will not be our last. It exceeded our expectations and we would recommend it to everyone of all ages, as the amenities, cottages and scenery are remarkable. Great memories and a fabulous time.
Looking forward to next year as this just may be our family summer getaway location!

Phil and Jeannine,
We had an amazing time! Your resort is one of a kind. The little added touches, ie; the spa, your professionalism and buisness sense, are just a few of the things that make your resort so unique.
We really liked that the lake is managable and the fishing was great. Your cottages are clean and have everything that you need. You are excellent with the kids! You have covered all of the basis for all age groups, and you have kept with todays times. This has allowed families from city and country to enjoy. We highly recommend travelling up to your resort.
We already miss you. Thanks for the good times and memories.

Me and four other guys just finished the Wolf-Pickerel canoe trip through Northern Lights Resort. It was pretty great weather considering it was the long weekend (which always seems to get rain). We stretched our trip to a four day, three night stay which was wonderful because we really got to enjoy some of the beautiful campsites on the route. Some nice fishing spots, swimming areas and even a little bit of cliff jumping.
There was a bit of boat traffic on the bigger lakes that had cottages on them, but it was expected since it was the long weekend.
Anyways, we had a fantastic time! Great memories, lots of picture and I think all the guys would agree that Phil and Jeannine were wonderful people! They were super welcoming, very accommodating–even to the point of lending a sleeping bag to one guy who forgot his (not recommended)–, and extremely friendly. Thanks guys and to all those thinking of this route as a possibility: do it!

We had an amazing time paddling the Wolf & Pickerel rivers this May long weekend (2010). Jeannine and Phil were very cordial and helpful in hosting us and helping us get ready for the trip.
The canoes they provided were of good quality and more than appropriate for the route. The route is very scenic, with one relatively easy portage. Many campsites along the way. Relatively novice paddlers should be o.k. on this route.
We had lots of fun. The resort (although we didn’t use it) looks great, and is in a very advantageous location for paddlers/fishermen/boaters, as it sits in a quiet estuary that’s connected to a very large waterway.
16 Cristina & Carol
Wonderful place, peaceful and very hospitable.
Thank you Jeanine and Phil for having us. It is a place to return and lose yourself in serenity.

The fishing was good(tasted good too)the massage was good(thanks Jeannine)and the hosts were great as well.Mike Jr. was very excited catching his 1st pike, and then a 2nd pike.Lots of bass were caught. We look forward to next year already.
25 Pat & Dave
We had a wonderful week with the family and it was our grandchildren’s summer highlite. Swimming was excellent along with the play areas. They fished off the dock and got the greatest kick when a 4lb bass was hauled in by the 6 year old. The cottage was very clean and enjoyable and our hosts Jeannine and Phil were most helpful in making sure we had a wonderful stay.
26 Lori & Bruce
We chose the 3 day canoe trip starting at Wolf River and ending at Northern Lights via Pickerel River. The trip was awesome. Some of the nicest scenery is at the end from Dollars Lake to Kawigamog Lake. The wind picks up at about 12pm and ends at around 4pm, you will be heading into it but the end result is well worth it.
27 Bortolotto Family
Our family stayed at Northern Lights for a week this year. Jeaninne and Phil are wonderful. The cabins are clean and everything is well maintained. We really enjoyed the fishing and we met lots of lovely people. The kids had fun playing and fishing. Thanks for everything! See you soon!

Hey Jeannine and Phil.
Thankyou for a spectacular week of excellent fishing and relaxing. I was able to catch some of the biggest fish of my life ( 20lb pike and a couple 24″ walleye that we released, pics to come soon). Did enjoy a fish fry once I got Marty off the porch…..haha.
Thankyou for your hospitality, by far the best!!
29 richard brunelle
great long weekend weather was terrible but fishing was great lots of pickeral caught some huge crappy also.couldnt keep the bass off the line.some good pike caught too.
30 Terry Dubois
Hello Phil and Jeannine,
Despite the cold front that moved in for the May 24 weekend, Larry, Terry, Rob and Doug had an excellent 3 days of fishing. Larry broke his previous Pike record of 7+lbs to see a broad-shouldered Northern grab his Aglia weighing in at a respectable 13lb 7oz’s. Even hauled in a 4 1’2 lb smallie which we hope graces one of your young guests lines this summer.
Pike were profuse and so were the Walleye once we figured out minnows on a hook were the letter of the day. The hits just kept on comin’.
The weather was sheety but the fish were delishee.
Thanks for a great opening weekend at your place, Phil and Jeannine. The article in Ontario Out of Doors was right on the money. Cabins were great too. Larry and I are going out on Saturday to purchase new mattresses. We never slept so well up at your place, in separate beds that is. I’m not sure about Rob and Doug though. I don’t like to pry.
Our wives were asking about the hot stone massage in the shack but we said we were too busy fishing. I’m not sure they believe us. We’ll have to bring them up so you can assure them that there is no such thing as a hot stone massage.
Have a great season.

Thank you very much for a wonderful holiday, the best in our lifetime.
We came home with a wonderful sense of peace and tranquility. It was
therapy
for all of us. It gave two teenage boys a new outlook in life. We
loved the
ambience of the site, the wonderful welcome we received on arrival and
the
friendliness we received throughout our two week stay. It was our
first
visit across the Atlantic and we are so happy we chose Northern Lights,
where we experienced canadian hospitality first hand.
Leaving it all behind was very hard, we sincerely hope we will be back
some
day.

If there was ever a more peaceful vacation it was at the Northern Lights Resort. This was the BEST!!!! Phil, thanks for the fishing tips,(NOT). Even the special lure you and Don created for me(picture to follow). Hey Jeannine, the reflexology was awesome, Jeff and I thought this was definately one of the highlights of our vacation and highly recommend this to everyone, even those avid fishermen (males) that think they don’t need it. The hot stone massage was wonderful as well done by Anne. It was great meeting Perry and family, (pictures to follow). We could go on and on as to how wonderful this resort was, you just have to experience it first hand. We will probably not take another winter vacation again…Thanks Phil and Jeannine.

My boyfriend and I went on a 3day 2night canoe trip on Wolf River, it was awesome! We paddled about 4-5 hours a day and made it to our camp site early and then woke early so the wind wasn’t so bad. We stayed on an island both nights there is tons to choose from we made up our own the first night but the 2nd night we stayed on an island by the elbow sign. The wind got bad passing Dollars Lake but we made it…lol…we had a great time and will forsure be going back again. The fishing was really good lots of bass! Thanks Phil for everything we r coming agian soon with more people see u in the summer!
P.s Hope u like the paddle…:)

My family and extended family rented four cottages this summer at Northern Lights. It was wonderful! The cottages were soo clean and well equipped with bedding and kitchen supplies. We loved the fact each cottage had its own BBQ, fire pit, boat and dock. The kids really enjoyed diving off the platform into the lake – I really liked the fact it wasn’t too far from shore. We had a great week fishing, using the paddle boats, going on walks (getting lost!), seeing deer and Perry the “Partridge” and having massages. Jeannine and Phil were wonderful hosts! We’re looking forward to spending another week together in 2008 at Northern Lights.

Four of us just completed a canoe trip from the Wolf River access point to NL and had a fantastic time. We were on the water at noon Saterday and arrived back at NL around noon on Tuesday so it was a leasurely trip.
The first night we camped on the site where the Wolf River branches NE from Pine Lake. Night 2 we were on the site just below 522 on Dollars Lake. Night 3 had us on the North shore of Kawigimog Lake next to the Western tip of Long Island. We checked the other four sites in this area of Kawigimog Lake and did not like any of them. All of these sites we used were nice and we would recommend them to others.
We had hoped to spend Sunday night on the site 3.4Km SE of the point where the Wolf River flows into Dead Hole but found it occupied by day campers who got there by boat. This is an very nice site site with a great beach.
There are four sites we noted that are not on the route guide. The first is on Wolf Lake 900M East of Mosquito Rapids. The second is 1Km SW of the site mentioned in the previous paragraph. The third at the Southern tip of the penninsula East of Ponfords Bay. The fourth is on the North shore of Cincinnati Island.
The shuttle service offered bu NL and the idvice we got about the route were great.

My 15 year old son Jeff and I just got back from a wonderful 3 day canoe trip from Wolf river through Ess Narrows and all the way back to NL. It was the right length (46Km) and not too difficult for our first over night canoe trip. We started out a bit late on the first day (11:00) but by 5:00 we were at our camp site at the top of Dollars lake. We left early the next morning and made it down to the islands in Lake Kawigamog by noon and camped on Cincinnati Island. Phil recommended this area full of islands and it was beautiful. The next morning the water was as calm as glass. It made for a beautiful paddle up the Pickerel River and at a leisurely pace we made it back to NL by 1:00.
The weather was beautiful and the fishing was great. We saw all sorts of wild life. We also learned a lot – bring extra water bottles (at least a full litre per person plus an extra) and snacks. On a hot day you drink and eat a lot while paddling. Our MSR water filter took a lot of silt out of the water and needed to be cleaned daily. On a sunny day, the wind picks up from the west in the afternoon, so you are better off getting an early start, especially if you are crossing open water.
Phil and Jeanine were great hosts and gave us great advice. Their canoeing package included not just the canoe and equipment but included the drop off at Wolf River, care of our vehicle while we were away and one night’s camping. Thank you for a wonderful trip.

We were visiting Jeannine & Phil July 14-21/07 and after arriving in the pouring rain, the skys cleared for almost the whole week. The fishing was great…lots of large & small mouth bass, walleye and the occasional pike. The whole resort had a great time socializing at the gazebo everyday and celebrating Jeannine’s birthday on the Thursday. My CD of pictures will be mailed soon. Thanks to all for making our stay a lot of fun and hope to see everyone again in the near future.
39 Rob
Thanks to P&J for a great stay, as usual! The weather was good the fishing got better as the week progressed. And to the Taylor family: it was great meeting you guys! Hope to see you next year.

Thank you Jeanine and Phil for being such great hosts. This was our first time at Northern Lights and loved it. Chad named the friendly chipmunks and we loved using the kayaks. Thank you so much for baking the birthday cake for Chad that was a surprize being the bakery was closed in town. We look forward to seeing you again.

What a wonderful May long weekend we had at Northernlights. It was our first visit to the resort, and I can tell you it will not be our last. My brother and his family live in London,ON and my mom and I live in Sault ste. Marie. So this was the perfect inbetween place to meet. We had the most enjoyable weekend. I can’t remember having so much fun and coming home laughing about all our adventures. I must say Parry was the highlight especially for my nephew Shawn. Thanks a million, Jeannine and Phil you guys are great. You made us feel like it was our 2nd home.
See you soon.

Alone at 81 years, and without my 18 speed 10 year old bicycle, I didn’t feel isolated during my 3 day stay at northern lights resort.
Phil, seeing that I could wield my own axes skillfully, allowed me to use his splitting axe for tough blocks of tree wood. It was a pleasure splitting wood for the fire-pits of the cottagers.
Preparing my meals and drinking the well water from the tap in a one room efficiency with electric heat was like a good hobby.
Yes I wasn’t alone, for my companions were the massive rocks, the hills, and the majestic trees in autumn colour. The view of nature from my unit over the lake was stunning.
Climbing the hills and investigating the wooda, absorbed my attention so that I could marvel at the wonders of northern lights resort.

A wonderful place to get away from it all and relax and fish!
44 Terry Ridsdale
Just dropping you a little note to tell you what a great time we had. The weather was perfect, the fishing could of been better but that’s all part of the fun. My one boy and I were out every morning at 6:30 trying to the “BIG ONE” we were calling him Walter. My youngest learned to take a fish off his line, thanks Phil for the persuasion. Phil and Jeannine your friendlyness was second to none. Photos to come.

Just returned home from a week at NL and had a very relaxing, enjoyable time. Our cottage was ideal with our own private dock. All the trees on the property give it a very rustic charm. We had a campfire every night and the light show from all the stars is certainly something to behold. Phil and Jeannine are the best, making you feel like one the family upon arrival. Will definitely be returning to do more exploring in the boat and perhaps a fall visit for the autumn show of colour. Thanks for a great week.
46 Caryn Luck
We have stayed at this resort in previous summers, and this year was the best so far. There are so many new things to do and experience. Phil and Jennene are friendly and welcoming. We will definately be back as soon as possible.
47 Alan Armstrong
My son Patrick and I have had the pleasure of visting Northern Lights for three summers in a row and not once were we disappointed in the fishing, weather or the fun we had with all the people. So next year we are already looking forward to returning. You can’t help but love this place. Nice job on the cottage Phil & Jeannine…thanks for removing that old carpet….
48 Ann
This was our third year at NLR with Jeannine and Phil and there is always something new to discover. My daughter tamed a Northern Red Bellied snake as a pet. We baled boats to keep them afloat after 9 inches of rainfall. The next day I relaxed with a reflexology treatment in Jeannine

First of all let me say WOW! My Family’s stay at NL was amzing and we will deffinately come back. My name is Paige and I’m a typical teenage girl who loves the computer, the phone and the tv so being unpluged from all of the things I love was going to be a challenge and I thought I was not going to enjoy the trip. Everything was going great up until monday when we were going out to Old Mirror Lodge for dinner when a storm hit causing us to loose power. I was devistated at the fact that I had no tv,computer or even a phone but to have no electricity was just unfair. But later on in the trip I realized that I did not need electricity as much as I thought. Believe it or not I bathed in the lake three times! (something I though I would even do once) and we even cooked one of our meals over the fire. We had to have a bucket to fill up in the lake just to fill the tanks to flush the toilets and we had to boil the water for the dishes, at least until Jeannine & Phil got the generator running for us. Luckly there was lots to do during the day to keep us busy. The fishing was great and the lake was great for a cool dip (but not a good place to keep your beer cold as my dad found out very quick when he was told the water was 80

The Storm of July 2006! We (a group of 13 in 3 cottages) just returned from our BEST week ever at NL. We lost power on July 17/06 around 5pm (our 30th wedding anniversary – maybe someone is trying to tell me something!) and it was restored on Jeannine’s birthday at 6:55 pm. Phil & Jeannine couldn’t have been more helpful to everyone at the resort. They purchased a generator so that everyone could have running water and most importantly gas for the boats. They supplied candles, as well as, tin foil pans for cooking on BBQs and fire pits. Bathing in the lake was great fun for our whole group, adults & kids alike. We had fun at the campfires in the evening with Dan as our entertainment! The power outage was a small inconvenience compared to the great MEMORIES we all have of our week with Jeannine & Phil. FYI: the power outage did not stop the fish…we had our best week yet, catching large & small mouth bass, most in the 13″ – 16″ range. Thanks for everything, see you next year! The London Group.
51 Dan Vanderburg
We had a great vacation at Northern Lights Resort! First of all, the hosts, Phil and Jeannine, were wonderful. Their genuine interest in our well- being and enjoyment made us feel very welcome and comfortable. My son, Eric, and I boated throughout Little Long Lake, Toad Lake, Wilson Lake, Duck Lake, Pidgeon Lake, the Pickerel River, and Lake Kawigama. Our journeys took us through grassy areas, forested shoreline, rockface displays and Canadian Shield outcrops. Did I mention that we caught “The Big One?” An 18″ Large Mouth Bass…great supper that night! Thanks to Phil and Jeannine again!
Dan and Eric Vanderburg

Phil and Jeannine were wonderful hosts to us. We were sad to leave as our best night of fishing was the evening before we left. We had 4 good fish in the last half hour of the evening.
The weather was great the entire week. The cottage was clean and very well kept. We enjoyed the entire visit thoroughly. We hope to be back again.
Be sure to ask Jeannine or Phil about the boat-in restaurant while you’re staying with them. It was one of the highlights of our visit.

Northern Lights has it all for a great get-away. Nature trails, fishing, boating, swimming, comradery and great Hosts are just some of the things one will find. Our family has been going to Northern Lights for close to 25 years and recommend it very highly to anyone looking to have a special vaction.
79 Geena
Northern lights resort is a great place to go for vacation. A person sees loons, moose, deer, bears (not near the cabins) fish, and the fun to feed and friendly, chipmunks. We never ran out of things to do. Canoeing, kayaking, paddle boating, fishing, boating, hiking, swimming and playing on the beach kept us busy. The owners, Jeannine and Phil, are the friendliest people I have met. They are always there to help if you need assistance with anything at all. In the mornings a beautiful mist rises off the surrounding water. On Sundays Jeannine and Phil serve fresh donuts and coffee which really toped off your visit. The cabins are wonderful and are clean. I hope you have the opportunity to stay at this beautiful resort.
80 Annette from Chatham
If you are looking for a very clean, quiet, comfortable cabin for the week this summer, this is the place to be. The kids enjoyed the wildlife last summer and playing on the beach. Very picturesque. Pay the new owners a visit.
